The article clarifies the idea and summarizes the concept of the quality management system in healthcare activities, thus creating a basis for understanding the role of quality as a development tool in this field. Improving the quality of the healthcare system is crucial for improving the health and quality of life of the population, for prolonging life, as well as for ensuring the effective development of healthcare organizations and enhancing their competitiveness. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of a quality management system based on the requirements of the standards: ISO 9000: 2015 "Quality management systems. Requirements." and BDS EN 15224: 2017 "Quality management systems. Implementation of EN ISO 9001: 2015 in healthcare. „Quality management is a continuous process of organizational development based on analyzing, planning, performing activities, evaluating and making improvements in work. Using a systematic approach, one of the basic principles of quality management is a guarantee for the effective and efficient achievement of the set goals. It is the leaders who establish the unity between the goals of the organization and its management, which is why it is of particular importance for the health manager to combine management with leadership. People at all levels of an organization represent their essence, and their full involvement enables their abilities and skills to be used for the sake of their success. Risk-based thinking ensures that risks in systems, processes and functions are identified, taken into account and controlled in the creation and implementation of the Quality Management System. Adherence to these principles should be of benefit to all stakeholders - patients and / or customers, suppliers, employees and society in today's global marketplace. The continuous improvement process is a management process through which the other processes are tested, evaluated and improved continuously in terms of efficiency, level of efficiency and flexibility. Continuous improvement should be applied to all processes that take place in an organization, focusing on their nature rather than the end results. Recently, the attention of all healthcare organizations has been focused on the establishment of management systems in accordance with the current version of ISO 9001. Therefore, this document focuses on new points in its implementation. The issue of management systems certification, which in itself is the conformity assessment with certain requirements, is also addressed. Best practices for use by all stakeholders are cited. Finally, the article provides guidance and suggestions for future applications of voluntary standards.
