- Abstract
How have questions concerning the development of personnel, scientific domain, and organization been taken up and discussed in the contributions to teacher education of the last twenty years, and where do universities of teacher education stand today? The article shows that support systems for career development are currently emerging, especially with a focus on domain-related and staff development in subject-specific teaching. It is proposed, among other things, that it is worthwhile to continue to rely on the right to award doctorates, to think about career paths across universities and to make the so-called «third space» attractive as a field of professional development in addition to a specialist and management career.
