- Abstract
The article examines the implications of labor supply on the unemployment rate in the U.S. It describes the demographic characteristics of people who are not searching for work and not included in the labor force but said they want a job. It analyzes the group's flow rates into employment and into unemployment. It presents forecasts on unemployment rate and demonstrate how they vary depending on assumptions about the dynamics of labor force participation from different subgroups.
