- Abstract
The article discusses several systemic factors that have contributed to the occurrence of oral mucosal color changes. It cites the role of the prolonged starvation, a chronic calorie deficiency that occurred along with disease, in producing tissue changes which have been presented by oral color changes. It views on the effect of a syndrome of protein-calorie malnutrition which is commonly experienced by one to three-year-old children. It also explores the condition of adult scurvy or the deficiency in vitamin C.
