The drifting behaviour of mature nymphs of Ephemerella Ignita Poda was observed in a fluviarium. The current resistance is slight. At 7 cm/sec the nymphs moved out of the current, and at 10 Cm/sec no movement was possible without drift. The preference for cairn water and the characteristic drift behaviour of nymphs in open water, enables this species to inhabit running water.
