- Abstract
Slovenia is approaching EU standards in all areas, including the acceptance of information society guidelines. We would like to show the impact of this process on competitiveness and sustainable development. The latter is the subject of our research. We start from the thesis that the paradigm of sustainable development is based on the use of new knowledge, or that the sustainable use of information potential in a modern society is equivalent to using other development potential. We test this thesis by analyzing the connections between pairs of indicators. Furthermore, we show that Slovenia is relatively well equipped with IT, but is weak in the field of network policy, which is not sustainable. We conclude that in Slovenia information content of sustainable development is lower than what it could be, above all because of inefficient policies.
