- Abstract
The article discusses the role of religious revivals in the development of evangelicalism and the Baptist faith. The importance of belief in regeneration to the concepts of divine grace, faith, and Christian identity is examined by the author. Baptist revivalism's role in obtaining religious conversion in the U.S. South is also analyzed. The use of revivals by the community of Separate Baptists following the First Great Awakening is detailed. The development of mass revivals and mass evangelism by preachers such as Dwight Lyman Moody and Billy Graham is discussed.
