- Title
Stage of Exception: Politics and Theatre in Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida.
- Authors
Wiggins, Ellwood
- Abstract
The article focuses on the relationship between theater and politics, using the example of Former Vice President of the U.S. Mike Pence attending a performance of "Hamilton". It explores the exceptional space of theater as a platform for political critique and argues that William Shakespeare's play "Troilus and Cressida" offers a critique of theater's exceptionality; and reveals the collusion between authority and performance in political theater.
