- Abstract
The article presents a clinical trial examining the effects of Cuban sugar cane-derived policosanol on lipid levels of patients with hypercholesterolemia or combined hyperlipidemia. According to the article, sugar cane-derived policosanol in typical and high doses does not cause a decrease in lipid levels beyond the placebo in patients with hypercholesterolemia or combined hyperlipidemia. The article discusses low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglycerides.
