The article discusses various aspects of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder's curtailment of mandatory minimum sentencing (MMS) in America, and it mentions the legal rights of nonviolent, low-level drug offenders, as well as the prospects for effective sentencing reform in the nation. The U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the MMS-related case Alleyne v. United States is mentioned, along with criminal penalties, the U.S. Sentencing Commission, and directives for federal prosecutors in America.
