- Abstract
In the present investigation, anti-ulcer activity of pyrazoline derivative 1-(2,4-dintrophenyl)-3-(4-hydroxy phenyl)-5-(2-furyl)-2-pyrazoline was investigated with the help of pharmacological experiments and statistical analysis. Three different models were used to evaluate anti-ulcer activity viz., alcohol, aspirin and pylorus ligation induced ulcer methods on rats. Ulcer index was determined by histopathological studies. The compound at the tested concentration of 50 and 100 mg/kg displayed a protective effect on ulcer-induced models in a dose dependent approach, and was analogous with the standard drug ranitidine. These results indicate that 1-(2,4-dintrophenyl)-3-(4-hydroxy phenyl)-5-(2-furyl)-2-pyrazoline has ulcer protective activity.
