- Abstract
Tatenda Murigo, an African representative from Zimbabwe on the IUBMB's Trainee Initiative committee, tragically passed away in a motor vehicle accident on July 14, 2023. She was a passionate science communicator, educator, and advocate for women in STEM. Tatenda was a gifted science student and focused on integrating a scientific perspective with African politics and education. She was involved in numerous societies and held leadership positions in many of them. Tatenda's presence on the IUBMB Trainee Initiative committee had a positive impact, and she was actively working on a project to promote biochemistry in Africa. Her loss will be deeply felt, and an IUBMB fellowship will be established in her honor.
