- Abstract
Even though a number of articles concerning the treatment of lip cancer have been previously published, mandibular metastasis has hitherto seldom been noted.A retrospective evaluation was made of 170 patients admitted at Ankara University—either previously treated or not treated—in order to determine the distribution of lip cancer and the incidence of consequent mandibular metastasis through the mental foramen. The highest incidence of lip cancer was seen between the ages of 40 to 50 in males and 50 to 60 in females, whereas metastasis to the mandibula was found to develop in 11.15% of the cases after the primary treatment.
