- Abstract
The article focuses on the potential of legislation that regulates excessive or unsupported price increases (UPI) to address drug affordability in the U.S. Topics discussed include the challenges facing federal reforms to address drug costs, varied UPI proposals on imposing price-increase cap on drugs such as relying on the wholesale acquisition cost of drugs as UPI reference, and ability of UPI laws to avoid the issue of evaluating the reasonableness of launch drug prices.
