- Abstract
The article examines economic conditions of the U.S. by referencing to various economists' works. One of the economist author of this article examines both the production of gold and wholesale prices of necessities in the United States with a view to determine whether or not some such relation as is suggested here might exist. For this purpose the author has made use of the figures for the production of gold in fine ounces in the United States and its possessions as reported by the Director of the Mint and the average annual wholesale price of agricultural products in the United States as reported in the Department of Agriculture Year Book for the period 1900-24. "The National Income and Its Purchasing Power," is the title of a recent volume issued by the National Bureau of Economic Research Inc., and prepared by Dr. Willford Isbell King. Tables and charts in the work dealing with changes in the concentration of income are far from satisfying, especially those dealing with apportionment among income classes of the total realized income measured in 1918 dollars. In the journal "American Economic Review," for September 1925, the author discussed reasons for and against imputing income to services. Tables and charts in the work dealing with changes in the concentration of income are far from satisfying, especially those dealing with apportionment among income classes of the total realized income measured in 1913 dollars.
