- Abstract
The article presents a discussion of some themes addressed in the book "The Law of God," by Rémi Brague. It is one of four articles published in this issue of the journal about Brague's book. It focuses on comparing the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim traditions of divine authority. A brief overview of the development of these ideas as part of the history of Western civilization is provided. The classical Greek tradition of philosophy and science, as expounded by Aristotle, and its influence on later philosphers such as René Descartes and Benedictus de Spinoza is discussed in this context.
