- Abstract
The article explores the legacy of the late Higo Grotius, the father of the international law. He characterizes the dilemmas of governance as he made a leap from a theological to a secular frame of jurisprudential thinking. His efforts in stirring the political aspiration towards a more liberal tolerance of difference are remembered. His works in freedom and order serves to remind international lawyers on their responsibility.
