THE STUDY OF ATTIC FUNERARY SCULPTURE.
Abstract
The article presents an overview of studies regarding funerary sculpture and monuments from ancient Greece. More specifically, the author focuses on funerary sculpture from the ancient Agora in Athens, Greece. Mention is made of various scholars who have contributed to the study of Attic tombstones, beginning with the 19th-century German researcher Alexander Conze. Other scholars mentioned include Johannes Bergemann, Ian Morris and T. H. Nielsen.
