Abstract
A biography of scientist G. Michael Bancroft is presented. Bancroft, who was born in Saskatoon in 1942 and educated in Winnipeg and Manitoba, set up the first automated AMössbauer spectrometers and used it to study structure and bonding in inorganic compounds and silicate minerals. He joined several higher education institutions including the University of Western Ontario Department of Chemistry.
