- Abstract
The article discusses the North Carolina General Assembly's passage of Senate Bill 33 which deals with several medical malpractice reforms as of January 2013, focusing on the law's provision of liability protection for emergency room personnel and other health care providers. The U.S. Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act is addressed, along with the legislative history of Senate Bill 33. The North Carolina College of Emergency Physicians' opposition to the state law is examined.
