- Abstract
The article discusses the state-building and nation-building processes within Liberia, with primary focus given to the ways in which dual citizenship legislation informs these processes. The author explains the importance of forging a Liberian national identity to the post-conflict state-building process, and notes Liberia's history as a primarily diasporic nation. Economic development programs beginning with Liberia's interim government of 2003 are outlined, and the exclusionary nature of the country's immigration and citizenship laws as of 2012 is detailed.
