- Abstract
The article offers information on the General English Proficiency Test (GEPT). It states that the GEPT was developed in 1999, and was commissioned by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. The goal of GEPT is to provide individuals with a measure of their English language proficiency and help employers and educational institutions in placement and selection. It also targets to encourage the study of the English language and to enhance the proficiency of people in Taiwan on this language. Moreover, test duration of this examination ranges from 1 hour 45 minutes at the Elementary level to 3 hours 50 minutes at the Superior level.
