- Authors
Eaton-Magaña, Sally; Chadwick, Karen M.
- Abstract
This article discusses a study of some commercially available samples of cubic zirconia (CZ) reported to be coated with nanocrystalline synthetic diamond. Conducted by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Laboratory in New York City, the study used EternityCZ from Serenity Technologies and Diamond-Veneer from Zirconmania. It successful identified the samples as diamond stimulants. Microscopic examination with darkfield illumination revealed the orange pavilion flash typical of cubic zirconia. The results of the tests establish that the samples are easily separated from diamond.
