- Abstract
The article discusses the results of the gemological examination of an 11.17 ct round modified brilliant cut of glass with devitrified inclusions. The presence of glass bubbles, consistent with a glass, was revealed upon microscopic examination. The refractive optic character of the glass and examination through Raman and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed this identification. The researchers determined that the glass was manufactured based on its high clarity and unusually pure light yellowish green color. The presence of silicon, zirconium and barium was also detected through energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence.
