The article highlights the evolution of family-centered services in early intervention/early childhood special education (EI/ECSE) through which children with delays and disabilities receive services. Topics discussed are influence of changes in family characteristics and philosophical changes on the evolution of family-centered services, progression and outcomes of family involvement in EI/ECSE, evidence-based family-centered practices and EI/ECSE professional standards.
