- Title
TISSUE COMPONENT AND ORGAN MASS CHANGES ASSOCIATED WITH DECLINES IN BODY MASS IN THREE SEABIRD SPECIES RECEIVED FOR REHABILITATION IN CALIFORNIA.
- Authors
DUERR, REBECCA S.; KLASING, KIRK C.
- Abstract
The article discusses the study which examines the carcasses of three adult seabird species, Common Murres, Western Grebes, and Surf Scoters, to determine the nutritional condition of aquatic birds that underwent rehabilitation as a result of oil spills using a regression analysis. Findings show that birds affected by oil spills may experience excessive tissue catabolism which results in severe nutritional depletion if not treated immediately.
