- Title
Executive Insights: Roles of R&D and Manufacturing in Global Marketing Management.
- Authors
Bermingham, John A.
- Abstract
The article addresses the challenges facing multinational corporations that must coordinate research and development, manufacturing, and marketing with employees who are overseas. A worst case scenario is presented in which a product line is developed that presents challenges in terms of production costs and marketing. The author shares a story about how his management style helped to turnaround two failing company departments. Suggestions are made in regard to the length of time that should be spent on product development and how the cost of goods sold (COGS) can determine a likely timetable.
