- Title
Banning energy-hog TVs.
- Authors
Meadows, Robin
- Abstract
The article reports on the move made by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to ban televisions (TVs) that failed to reduce their power use in half by 2013. It says that the move was prompted by an analysis from Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) which showed that TVs now account for 10% of home energy in California. It further states that the vote on the regulation is expected in the summer of 2009 and notes that the next target for energy efficiency would be desktop computers.
