Challenging Secularization Theory: The Growth of "New Age" Spiritualities of Life.
- Authors
Heelas, Paul
- Abstract
This essay reports on challenging the secularization theory and the growth of new age spiritualities of life. Spirituality is the life force or energy that sustains life in this world. New age spiritualities requires experience, practice, and spiritual traditions and activities that enable the spiritual seekers to make contact with their inner depths. The growth and decline of religion and alternative spirituality are explained by the adverse impact of the autonomous, unique, subjectively oriented mode of selfhood on theistic tradition, and the positive impact on new age spiritualities.
