The article discusses the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 (Dodd-Frank or DFA) and its crisis-prevention rationale. Topics include the two-prong approach of the DFA's rationale, the regulatory gaps argument and the beneficent new bureaucracies contention, the critical DFA provisions and the powers it grants to federal bureaucracies like the Office of Financial Research, and the economic theory of political transaction-cost manipulation.
