- Title
A Proposal of Monetary Reform for Argentina Flexible Dollarization and Free Banking.
- Authors
CACHANOSKY, NICOLÁS; RAVIER, ADRIÁN O.
- Abstract
The article argues that while flexible dollarization is insufficient to solve the weak economic performance of Argentina over the long run, it is a necessary measure due to the government's abuse of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA). Topics discussed include the present monetary weakness in Argentina, and the BCRA as a currency board during the 1991-2002 convertibility era. Also mentioned are free banking, prerequisites for the monetary reform, and privatizing public banks.
