- Title
Creating Stories to Tell Through Nursery Rhymes.
- Authors
Spicer, Karen-Leigh
- Abstract
This article describes how nursery rhymes can be used as idea starters for students to create their own short stories to tell. Giving students an idea to start with can be helpful. Nursery rhymes are excellent tools to use for creating stories because they contain interesting beginnings, few characters, uncomplicated plots, circumstances that can appeal to one's emotions and endings. Finally, nursery rhymes are easy to learn and easy to remember. Nursery rhymes are derived from many sources passed down in folklore fashion over many years and immortalized by publishers, oftentimes without author credit. They can be easily obtained through countless books, Internet, or simple memory.
