- Title
USING INQUIRY TO BREAK THE LANGUAGE BARRIER.
- Authors
Ricketts, Amy
- Abstract
The article discusses how science teachers can make simple modifications to traditional science fair projects to help English language learners (ELLS) achieve the dual goals of mastering science content and enhancing English language learning in the U.S. in 2011. It notes that more than five million ELLS represent 10% of students enrolled in public schools. Evidence reportedly show that there is a synergistic effect between science inquiry and language development.
