- Title
Artificially Regenerating Native Oaks in California.
- Authors
McCreary, Douglas D.
- Abstract
The article presents a study that deals with artificial propagation and outplanting of native oaks in California. It highlights the possibility of artificial regenerating of native oaks by maintaining the physiological quality of acorns and seedlings. Due to harsh environmental conditions, the survival and growth of oak seedlings is limited. The authors propose augering, fertilization and protection with treeshelters, and rapid juvenile growth after outplanting to allow seedlings to quickly grow above their level of vulnerability to browsing pressures.
