The article focuses on a study conducted on genotyping under a collaboration between IBM, the Genographic Project team and the Lebanese American University researchers in Beirut. Together, they genotype Y chromosomes from Lebanese volunteers. They then compared the Y genotypes of the major ethnic groups, Christians, Druze and Muslims. They concluded that religious affiliation has a great impact on patterns of genetic variation.
