The article presents news briefs on the textile industry as of December 2003. A report released by the Freedonia Group predicts demand for nonwoven roll goods in the U.S. to increase by 3.9% per year to nearly $5 billion in 2007. According to a report by Web Consulting, Flatbed Inkjet Printing, annual sales of medium and high-end flatbed inkjet printers could reach 1,500 units by 2005. The U.S. Department of Commerce released a report from the Textile Working Group to the U.S. Congressional Textile Caucus, titled, Second Report to the Congressional Textile Caucus on the Administration's Efforts on Textile Issues. DuPont has announced the sale of Invista to subsidiaries of Koch Industries Inc. for $4.4 billion. The Bayer Group has announced its plan to focus on its healthcare, nutrition, and materials businesses. Dow Chemical Ibérica has announced its plans to build a commercial scale plant for the production of Dow XLA elastic fiber at its facilities in Tarragona, Spain. Sears, Roebuck and Co. has released financial results for the third quarter of 2003. Net income was reported at $147 million. Jones Apparel Group Inc. reported financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2003. Revenues were $1.181 billion.
