- Title
Color in Textile Wastewater: Influence of Dye Dispersing Agents.
- Authors
Perkins, Warren S.; Baughman, George L.
- Abstract
The article presents a study on the influence of sulfonated naphthalene formaldehyde condensates (SNFC) in the color of textile wastewater. The study involves the examination of the formation of color in solutions of commercial SNFC dispersing agents under conditions similar to those to which the agents would be exposed in the treatment of aerobic wastewater. It shows that SNFC undergo photochemically enhanced reactions which formed yellow products in water. It was found out that the concentration of SNFC in wastewater could be high enough to yield unacceptable levels of color in effluent from treatment plants which process textile dyeing wastewater.
