Details how the criterion of semantic dominant used by Stanislaw Barañczak and the notion of katena were adapted and altered to evaluate the quality of various translations of Kamil Norwid's poems, short stories, aphorisms and letters. Overview of the principle of translation maximalism; Reason kateny seemed to be the most suitable and objective as far as the search for the distinctive features of the original text; Illustration on how the method works on the example of one of the masterpieces of Norwid.
