- Title
PRP: Product Rich in Placebo?
- Authors
Filardo, Giuseppe; Kon, Elizaveta
- Abstract
The article discusses the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the treatment of a pathologic joint surface and in the healing of damaged tissues. The efficacy of PRP is subject to question because of the absence of methodologically good reports on its safety, the failure of a randomized controlled trial to differentiate PRP and hyaluronic acid (HA) injections, and the different response of patients to viscosupplementation. The similarity of PRP with placebo is mentioned.
