- Title
Can pulsed electromagnetic fields protect joint cartilage?
- Authors
Eriksson, Ejnar
- Abstract
The author offers opinions on research indicating that pulsed electromagnetic fields can help protect joint cartilage in patients undergoing arthroscopic procedures for cartilage problems. Activation of the receptors by adenosine is how the body controls inflammatory phenomena. Exposing the receptors to pulsed electromagnetic fields appeared to limit inflammation, and significantly increase the patient's chances of a full recovery.
