- Title
Physics: A century of cosmic rays.
- Authors
Friedlander, Michael
- Abstract
The author reflects on the emergence of exotic particles which are suggested to be coming from well-known objects such as some supernova remnants. He highlights the discovery by British physicist Cecil Powell in 1950 of a thin rain of charged particles known as the primary cosmic radiation and his development of the photographic method for the identification of high-speed and short-lived particles. Also mentioned is Austrial-Americah physicist Victor Hess who discovered cosmic rays.
