- Authors
Johnson, Aaron J.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the successful career of jazz bandleader Duke Ellington as a radio celebrity. It states that Ellington's knowledge in music led him to become a radio celebrity which has been boosted by the opportunities taken when the U.S. federal government decided to mobilize the African-American community during the Second World War. It adds that his excellent media strategy made him remain as an exceeding cultural figure despite the loss of the people's interest in jazz.
