- Abstract
The article "The Regulation of Media Intermediaries by the MStV" examines the significance and regulation of media intermediaries in the Media State Treaty (MStV). Media intermediaries are online services that aggregate, select, and present third-party content. They play an important role in the opinion-forming process and have a high market concentration, especially in companies like Meta and Alphabet. The article also analyzes the economic peculiarities of digital platforms and discusses regulatory measures such as transparency obligations and the prohibition of discrimination. The focus is on the definition of media intermediaries and the limits of transparency obligations.
