- Abstract
Suicide in young people is considered a health problem worldwide. University students are a highly vulnerable group, who not only face everyday stressors but also the demands of a career, a risk that seems to be greater in those with "difficult" degrees, such as medicine. The objective was to analyze the aspects associated with the ideation and / or suicide attempt in medical students. It was of a qualitative type, 20 students of the medical surgeon career participated of both sexes, from the FESI-UNAM, who had presented ideation and/or at least one suicide attempt and who were in psychological and/or psychiatric care; to whom a questionnaire was applied. It was found that in more than half of the population, suicidal ideation is directly related to family problems. The data obtained gave us access to small fragments of the history of each participant, placing them above all in a family context, which allowed us to reaffirm the influence of the family as a risk factor; which leads us to the importance of using intervention strategies both at the individual and family level.
