- Abstract
The aim is to describe the socio-demographic profile of pregnant women with gestational diabetes. This is a documental, descriptive and transversal retrospective research, carried out at the Maternity School of UFRJ. Data were collected in 2016, by means of 200 medical records of pregnant women monitored at the prenatal outpatient clinic in the period from 2009 to 2015. Mean age 30.2 years; 28.1% had completed high school; 71% married or in a stable union; 54.7% declared themselves white; 55.2% say they are catholic; 34.5% reside in the South Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro; 28.9% had normal pre-gestational BMI, while 38% were overweight and 33.2% were obese. Were diagnosed with diabetes between 28 and 31 gestational weeks (32.14%). It is concluded that the results presented may trigger assistance proposals for care and prevent the outcome of morbidity in the clientele.
