- Abstract
The article presents information about a contracting process developed, implemented, refined and documented by the Lincoln Teachers Corps in Lincoln, Nebraska. The process facilitated teacher-resource personnel teaming for individualized/personalized instruction, and it facilitated the preparation and upgrading of teacher competencies. The contracts were for classroom teachers and various resource personnel, i.e., Teacher Corps interns, student teachers, pre-student teaching tutors and assistants, community aides, and university instructors and supervisors. The Lincoln project, a collaborative program of the Lincoln Public Schools and Teachers College, University of Nebraska, was field-based at Goodrich Junior High School. In 1975-76, Goodrich registered 775 students in grades six through nine. The staff included 45 teachers and the usual support staff of administrators, counselors, media specialists, a nurse, and teacher aides. Teacher Corps and the regular university teacher education programs provided additional human resources to enhance educational opportunities for the Goodrich students.
