- Authors
Abrams, Julian A.; Chak, Amitabh
- Abstract
The authors discuss a study published within the issue which examined the role of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) in identifying the role of obesity in Barrett's esophagus (BE) and esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). They discuss the Mendelian randomization study design, the complex association of obesity with BE and EAC, and the strong association between measures of central obesity and visceral fat mass with BE and EAC than body mass index (BMI).
