The article presents an examination into the narrative function of the Old Testament passage of 1 Chronicles 23-27 within the larger context of the Davidic story related through the book. Topics discussed include mention of the chapters that interrupt the narrative flow of the book, the factors that influenced the belief that Chronicles 23-27 intrudes upon the narrative of 1 Chronicles, and the passage's possible purpose in establishing temple authority and continuity.
