- Title
Both Individual and Community Factors Influence Whether Women in Rural Mali Receive Maternal Care.
- Authors
London, S.
- Abstract
The article examines the internal and social factors that may influence whether expectant or new mothers in rural Mali seek medical care. The study found that the utilization of medical care depends on one's own household wealth, whether or not immediate neighbors had sought similar care. The maternal services and emergency obstetric services within a five kilometer distance of the woman questioned for the article was considered as an influential factor. It is noted that wealthier women were more likely to have a physician present at their birth.
