- Abstract
In the middle of the second decade of the twentieth century, the First World War was already raging in Europe, where the armies of the large military and political blocks of the Entente and the Central Powers were raging and struggling against each other. The diplomacy of Berlin and Vienna manages to attract the Ottoman Empire to the Triple Alliance, but the struggle for new allies continues. Bulgaria is becoming a desirable object in it, especially since none of the opposing groups is able to take the lead in the conflict. The present study aims to shed further light on the essence of the diplomacy of the Great powers to attract new allies, which became extremely controversial after the conflict in the Ottoman Empire, as well as to show how valuable Bulgaria is for the warring parties by looking at the attempts the diplomats of the Triple Union in Constantinople to attract Sofia as an ally. When writing this article, various scientific studies and archival materials were used by the Central State Archives (CSA).
